Terms of Service

Effective date: April 22, 2026

These terms govern your use of GainGrid. Read them — they're short and they matter. Questions? Email legal@gaingrid.app.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using GainGrid (the "Service" or "app"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use GainGrid.

GainGrid is operated by Lake Pry as an individual doing business as GainGrid, not as an incorporated entity. "GainGrid", "we", and "us" refer to this operator. "You" refers to the person using the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 12 years old to use GainGrid. GainGrid is rated 12+ on the App Store. If you're under 18, you may only use GainGrid with a parent or legal guardian's consent. You must be legally able to enter into a binding contract where you live.

3. Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secret.
  • You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, whether you authorized it or not.
  • Notify us immediately at support@gaingrid.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • You may only maintain one active account. Multiple accounts created to evade bans or rate limits will be terminated.
  • Information you provide (email, username, display name) must be accurate and kept current.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use GainGrid for any unlawful purpose, or to promote or facilitate illegal activity
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, impersonate, or intimidate other users through profiles, messages, usernames, or any feature of the app
  • Post content that is defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or that depicts minors in a sexual context
  • Promote eating disorders, self-harm, unsafe training practices, or the misuse of performance-enhancing drugs
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service, or otherwise extract source code or underlying data structures — except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by law
  • Circumvent rate limits, security controls, or authorization checks; interfere with the Service's availability for other users
  • Automate account creation, interactions, or data collection without our written permission
  • Upload malicious code, malware, or anything designed to harm another user or our infrastructure
  • Use the Service to send spam, unsolicited marketing, or phishing content
  • Post content that you don't have the right to post, including copyrighted material you don't own and content that would infringe another person's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
  • Harvest, scrape, or collect personal information about other users by any means, including automated tools, bulk profile-viewing, or social-engineering

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion, with or without notice.

5. Your content

Ownership

You own the workouts, meals, body metrics, profile details, and any other content you create in GainGrid ("Your Content"). These Terms don't transfer ownership to us.

License you grant us

To run the Service, you grant GainGrid a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and transmit Your Content — solely for the purpose of operating and improving the app. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we're required to retain records for legal or security reasons.

If you make your profile public or publish activity events to your feed, you also grant other GainGrid users a license to view, follow, and interact with that content within the app.

Your responsibility

You're responsible for what you publish. Don't post content you don't have the right to post. Don't upload someone else's image as your profile picture without permission.

Our ability to remove content

We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe exposes us or our users to legal, safety, or reputational risk. We aren't obligated to monitor content, but we may.

6. Social features

GainGrid includes follows, follow requests, feeds, notifications, and public profiles. You control:

  • Whether your profile is public or private
  • Which event types are published to your feed
  • Who you allow to follow you
  • Whether you receive push notifications

If another user violates these Terms, email support@gaingrid.app with the username and a description of the issue. We investigate all reports but don't promise to act on every one.

6.5. DMCA & copyright takedowns

We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA").

If you believe content on GainGrid infringes your copyright, send a written notice to dmca@gaingrid.app that includes all of the following:

  1. Your contact information — full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  3. Identification of the infringing material and its location on GainGrid — include sufficient detail (username, timestamp, screenshot, or direct description) for us to locate it.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

We will respond to complete DMCA notices within 10 business days, typically by removing or disabling access to the contested content and notifying the user who posted it. We may terminate the accounts of users we determine to be repeat infringers.

Counter-notices: If your content was removed and you believe the removal was mistaken, you may send a counter-notice to dmca@gaingrid.app with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

False claims are costly: knowingly misrepresenting material as infringing (or as non-infringing in a counter-notice) may subject you to liability for damages, costs, and attorneys' fees under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

7. Health & fitness disclaimer

GainGrid is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. The app tracks workouts, nutrition, and body metrics you choose to record. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.

  • Consult a qualified physician or medical professional before beginning any exercise or nutrition program, especially if you have or suspect a medical condition.
  • Exercise carries risk of injury. You are solely responsible for your own safety, form, equipment selection, and programming decisions. We are not liable for injuries sustained while using information, features, or community content from GainGrid.
  • Nutrition data in the app (including USDA values and manual entries) may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on GainGrid for medically supervised dieting.
  • Content you see from other users — PRs, workouts, meal plans — is not medical or professional advice. Don't copy it blindly.
  • Stop exercising and seek medical attention if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or other warning signs. Your health is your responsibility.

8. Service availability

We work hard to keep GainGrid running, but we don't promise it will be available at all times. We may perform maintenance, introduce bugs, or experience downtime from our hosting providers. We're not liable for loss of data, missed training logs, or inconvenience caused by outages — though we'll do our best to keep those short.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time. Breaking changes to core functionality (for example, discontinuing the app) will be announced in-app or by email at least 30 days in advance where reasonably possible.

9. Fees

GainGrid is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll do so transparently: you'll see pricing before you buy, and the free tier you signed up for won't retroactively become paid.

Any subscriptions or in-app purchases will be processed through Apple's App Store in accordance with Apple's terms. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple per their standard policies — we cannot issue refunds for App Store transactions directly. For help with App Store purchases, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

10. Termination

By you

You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing support@gaingrid.app.

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your use of the Service puts us or other users at legal or security risk, or if we're required to by law. We may also terminate inactive accounts with reasonable notice.

Data handling on termination

On account termination, your data is handled according to our Privacy Policy. Personal content is permanently deleted within 30 days, encrypted backups are rotated within 90 days, and aggregated anonymous data may be retained indefinitely.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

11. Disclaimers

GAINGRID IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that data you record will be preserved without loss. Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties; to the extent those laws apply, this section is modified to comply.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GAINGRID AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, PERSONAL INJURY, OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS — ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) fifty US dollars (USD $50) or (b) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GainGrid and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, or damages (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, so you have time to review and — if you disagree — close your account. Continued use of GainGrid after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

If you're a consumer located outside the United States, mandatory local consumer-protection laws that apply to you will still apply, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence where those laws require.

16. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and GainGrid.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is held invalid, the rest remains in effect.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them (e.g., in connection with a sale of the Service).
  • Notices. We'll send notices to the email on your account. You can reach us at legal@gaingrid.app.
